Day 1 can be a stand alone training session.
Day’s 2 and 3 provide complimentary materials. Day 3 elaborates on theory and principles learned in Day 2.
There is additionally a 1-day intermediate level course for participants who have completed the 3-day course and want to take their knowledge to the next level.

Working with children who display inappropriate and harmful sexual behaviour in a residential setting covers the following:
An introduction to harmful sexual behaviour
- Understanding what constitutes healthy, inappropriate and harmful sexual behaviours.
- Understand in person and technology assisted behaviours.
- Understand why young people might display sexualised behaviours.
The Good Lives Model.
- Understanding of the Good Lives Model.
- Understanding how young people meet their needs.
- Understanding how sexual behaviours can meet unmet needs.
Managing Risk and Defensible Decisions.
- Understanding Risk management in a specialist placement.
- Risk assessing activities.
- Thinking about controls to manage risk.
- Incremental reductions to supervision via an ICOPE programme.
Day 2
The role of attachment and trauma covers the following:
Trauma and Adverse Childhood Experiences
- Understanding childhood/developmental trauma
- Understanding Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE’s)
- Understanding how trauma impacts on brain development
- Understanding how childhood trauma can impact on behaviours

- Understanding of attachment theory
- Understanding of the different attachment styles.
